Natural Health Care for Sunburn Remedies

If you are fair-skinned with light coloured eyes, I'm afraid you are more susceptible to sunburn and a number one candidate for skin cancer if you continually expose yourself to the heat of the sun on a regular basis; as is someone who has been treated and cured of skin cancer.

The first advice is everyone should avoid severe sunburn at all costs - especially as its adverse affects not only include damage to your skin, but also the additional risk of skin cancer is very real and not to be taken lightly...so follow our advice on sunburn remedies.

9 Natural Remedies for Sunburn Treatments

So let's start with a few sunburn remedies for with a few natural health products you can buy at most health stores or on the Internet:
It seems like I'm stating the obvious, yet the first thing you should do for sunburn relief is to cool down:

. Immediately poor cold water onto your sunburned areas. Better still, you can soak in a cool bath and add some baking soda or a cup of oatmeal which will help relieve your sunburn pain.

. Adding a cup or two of vinegar, white vinegar, cider vinegar or apple cider vinegar to your cool bath water will help take the pain and sting out of your sunburn. Applying any one mentioned straight to your skin with a soft cloth is effective too as is the liquid content of a vitamin E capsule applied straight to your skin.

. Use natural moisturizing oils to relieve your symptoms; Aloe Vera gel is used for sunburn because of its positive healing and rejuvenating properties.

. Another natural remedy for this would be to add a few drops of peppermint oil to a warm cup of water and apply with a soft cloth. The fragrance and the cooling effects of peppermint alleviate the burning pain of your sunburn symptoms.

. You might like to apply the herb St John?s Wart in ointment form which is an antiseptic and pain killer. Stay out of the sun if you take St John?s Wart herbal tablet orally as your skin will be more sensitive to the rays.

. You can apply to your skin brewed peppermint tea; after allowing cooling time, dip a soft cloth into the pot and carefully wash it over your sunburn. Make a pot of Green Tea; wait for it to cool, poor it onto a soft cloth and use as a cold compress; this will help to reduce inflammation and protect your skin from the damage ultra violate radiation can do.

. Believe it or not, milk or ordinary (cooled) tea are great sunburn remedies - cooling and soothing.

. If you have spots or areas of bad sunburn gently rub the site with a slice of potato or cucumber.

. Toothpaste can ease the pain of small burn sites and can prevent blisters

Warnings:

If you or someone is too weak to stand, is disorientated and confused, get them to a doctor or hospital immediately - also if they have large blisters which could become infected.

Do not EVER use oils, fats or grease on blisters or burns; these are for cooking only, so be assured, apply these and your skin will fry! Use only the sunburn remedies outlined above.

Severe Sunburn and Sunburn Prevention:

. Use a sunscreen. The herb: Sea Buckthorn (Hippophaer Rhamnoids) is a natural a sunscreen; you should apply it 3 to 4 times per day to reverse damaging effects of sun radiation.

. Cover yourself completely, from top to bottom. Wear trousers, not jeans, cotton top with sleeves; also wear sunglasses with a wide brimmed hat.

. Arotenoids are in your everyday natural health foods and is found to help prevent sunburn. Add more dark green vegetables into your diet, also include: tomatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, winter squash, peaches, papaya and red peppers. One more thing! Just 15 minutes of sunshine a day will provide you with all the daily requirement of Vitamin D you need - more than than any food or vitamin can!

If the sun is strong, no need to bare your skin, just wear light clothes as the sun?s ultraviolet rays will penetrate even on hot cloudy days. After 15 minutes be sure to follow the Sunburn prevention advice above.
